Our Milestones.

Avenue5 Residential opened our doors in 2015 with a vision to build brighter futures, redefine the resident experience, create rewarding careers for our associates, and deliver measurable results for our clients. What started as a bold idea has become a national platform built through trust, results, and organic growth. Here are some of the milestones that have helped define our journey.

2015


Committed to putting an end to autopilot in the multifamily industry, we launched Avenue5 with a fresh, hands-on, and customized approach to third-party property management. Centered on performance success, bolstered by our five core beliefs, and strengthened by a collaborative and inclusive culture, we began building relationships with multifamily owners seeking expertise, precision, and measurable results.

We expanded our property management services to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, and we earned recognition from the Puget Sound Business Journal as one of the 100 fastest-growing private companies in our home state of Washington. By the end of the year, we proudly managed over 18,000 units.

Our momentum accelerated, and we debuted at number 46 on the NMHC Top 50 Managers list and earned our first Great Place to Work® certification, driven by positive feedback from more than 1,000 associates. The Puget Sound Business Journal also ranked us the fourth-fastest-growing private company in Washington.

We advanced to position number 30 on the NMHC Top 50 Managers list and were recognized as the second fastest-growing company in Washington by the Puget Sound Business Journal. For the second consecutive year, we earned a Great Place to Work® certification. We also earned a position on the Best Places to Work in Multifamily list for the first time.

With more than 300 properties and 55,000 units under management, we rose to number 20 on the NMHC Top 50 Managers list. Thanks to our associates’ continued positive feedback about the #FiverLife, we also earned our third consecutive Great Place to Work® certification.

We continued our expansion, surpassing 67,000 units and advancing to number 15 on the NMHC Top 50 Managers list. We also deepened our impact by launching REACH at 5, our diversity, equity, and inclusion collective, and introducing our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) platform. We earned our fourth consecutive Great Place to Work® certification.

We entered the year with more than 75,000 units and 150 clients, holding strong at number 15 on the NMHC Top 50 Managers list. Multi-Housing News (MHN) ranked us number seven on their Top Multifamily Property Management Firms list and number six on their Fastest Growing Property Management Companies list. Our CEO, Walt Smith, received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Washington Multifamily Housing Association. We also earned our fifth consecutive Great Place to Work® certification thanks to accolades from our associates.

We crossed a defining milestone: 100,000 units under management, achieved entirely through organic growth. We moved up to number 12 on the NMHC Top 50 Managers list, ranked number eight on MHN’s Top Multifamily Property Management Firms list, and earned our sixth consecutive Great Place to Work® certification in recognition of positive feedback from associates.

As our organic growth continued to accelerate, we moved up to position number 10 on the NMHC Top 50 Managers list and to position number seven on MHN’s Top Multifamily Property Management Firms list. We also achieved a Great Place to Work® certification for the seventh consecutive year.

Our scale and recognition continued to reach new heights. We advanced to number eight on the NMHC Top 50 Managers list and held the number seven position on MHN’s Top Multifamily Property Management Firms list. We grew to 3,000 associates and more than 140,000 units across 20 states and Washington, D.C. Studio5, our in-house creative agency, earned a 2024 Muse Award for its branding work on Altair by Soltura. We also achieved our eighth consecutive Great Place to Work® certification.

We proudly maintained our number eight position on the NMHC Top 50 Managers list and made our first appearance on the Ranking Arizona business opinion poll, which ranks companies based on public sentiment. Our associates’ survey feedback earned us both a Puget Sound Business Journal Best Workplaces in Washington designation and a Great Place to Work® recertification for the ninth consecutive year.
