We're pleased to share that our CEO, Walt Smith, will be inducted into the Multifamily Executive Hall of Fame this November. The MFE Hall of Fame recognizes leaders with 20-plus years of experience who have had an outsized impact on their companies, teams, peers, and the multifamily industry as a whole.
We’re proud to have Walt leading Avenue5 and even prouder to see his contributions to our company and industry being recognized. As Fivers, we have seen the impact of his leadership firsthand. His vision continues to shape our growth, unique culture, and management philosophy, along with the experiences we create for our clients, residents, and associates every day.
This recognition captures Walt’s extraordinary accomplishments over more than three decades in the industry. Walt began his multifamily career as a regional property manager, advancing to higher operations leadership positions before co-founding three successful companies: Investors Capital Group, HSC Real Estate, and Avenue5.
This award also celebrates Walt’s approach to leadership and relationship-building. When he founded Avenue5, Walt set the foundation for our people-centered culture. He values providing others with rewarding career opportunities and takes pride in personally mentoring and coaching them as they advance in their careers. He believes in being transparent, listening to varied perspectives, encouraging constructive debate, and creating an environment where associates feel comfortable speaking up and sharing ideas. Walt also encourages the adoption of emerging technologies while prioritizing the human qualities at the heart of our business, including trust, authenticity, integrity, and empathy.
Additionally, this honor reflects Walt’s long-standing advocacy for the property management industry and the opportunities it provides. As a seasoned leader who is committed to giving back to the industry, Walt currently serves as a Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) Political Action Committee (PAC) board of directors member, NMHC board of directors member, a co-chair of the Real Estate Technology & Transformation Center, and a member of the NMHC Executive Committee.
